Political Relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were established on February 3, 1994.
In 2019 Belarus and Pakistan celebrate the 25th Anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Belarusian-Pakistani relations activated significantly after the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with a residence in Islamabad in November 2014.
The first in the history official visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan took place on May 28 – 29, 2015.
On August 10 – 12, 2015 the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif visited the Republic of Belarus.
On November 9 – 11, 2015 an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov was organized.
On October 4 – 6, 2016 the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko paid the second official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
On February 1 – 4, 2017 the Republic of Belarus was officially visited by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mian Raza Rabbani.
On April 10 – 12, 2017 the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko came with an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
On December 16 – 19, 2018 the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Armed Forces of Pakistan paid an official visit to Belarus.
H.E. Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Belarus, met twice with H.E. Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in June 2019 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic and in September 2021 in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Council.
The mutual will to develop the dialogue in the political sphere is fixed in the Islamabad Declaration of Belarus-Pakistan Partnership signed on May 29, 2015, the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan signed on August 10, 2015 and the Joint Statement of the President of the Republic of Belarus and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan signed on October 5, 2016.
Belarus and Pakistan are closely cooperating on the international arena in addressing pressing issues of the global and regional agenda.
Effective interaction in this direction is ensured by the functioning of a permanent mechanism of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. Five rounds of political consultations took place between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Pakistan at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers (the fifth round took place in Minsk on July 27, 2021).
