On the meeting with the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division of the Government of Pakistan

Follow up the agreements reached between the Head of the Belarusian State and the Prime Minister of Pakistan I. Khan on the sidelines of the SCO HSC in Bishkek regarding preparation by the parties of a high-level visit to Belarus, on December 24, 2019 the meeting between the Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Mr. Andrei Ermolovich and the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division of the Government of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Hammad Azhar took place.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the whole range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Particular attention was paid to the modalities of the sixth meeting of Belarus-Pakistan Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission which is scheduled to be held in March 2020 in Minsk. To fill this event with practical agreements with the prospect of reaching concrete projects in the field of industry, agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals and other perspective areas, it was agreed with the Pakistani Side to conduct specialized interagency working groups on the eve of the Commission in these areas.

A separate topic of the meeting was the issue of agreement by the parties of the draft Roadmap for Belarusian-Pakistani cooperation for years 2020 – 2022. The program document which includes the main perspective areas of bilateral cooperation is proposed to be initiated during the sixth session of the Commission in Minsk and signed during the visit of I. Khan to Belarus.

During the conversation the Pakistani side gave a positive assessment to the efforts of Belarus to strengthen business contacts including the participation of our country in international exhibition events in Pakistan.

For reference: In September 2019 the representatives of Belarusian industrial enterprises and organizations of the NAS of Belarus and the SCST under the aegis of the National Center for Marketing took part in the international industrial exhibition “IEMA-2019” (September 26 – 28, 2019, Lahore). The Belarusian-Pakistani business forum was held on the sidelines of the event.

In 2020 Belarusian delegations are planning to participate in the international industrial exposition in Karachi (March 2020) and the international agricultural exhibition in Lahore (April 2020).
